London, 13th October 2016 – Anders la Cour, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Saxo Payments was last night named Entrepreneur of the Year in the 2016 Emerging Payments Awards, in recognition of his leadership in bringing to market the innovative Banking Circle solution to tackle the cost and time challenges of cross border payments. The ground-breaking firm also picked up the Best New Back Office Innovation and Service Organisation Supporting the Payments Industry Awards at the same event.

The Emerging Payments Awards set out to put the spotlight on the best people, programmes and innovations in the global payment’s industry.

Saxo Payments was a finalist in 10 categories in this year’s Awards, and went home with 3 trophies on the night, including Anders la Cour taking the coveted title of Entrepreneur of the Year.

Under his leadership with Co-CEO Laust Bertelsen, Saxo Payments has created the world’s first “second gen” financial tech business with the capability to operate as an effective utility supporting a wide spectrum of payments businesses globally.

“The Banking Circle is our web-based banking platform which is shaking up the current landscape for businesses trading on a global scale” explained Anders la Cour. “Crucially, Banking Circle members can make and receive cross border transfers in seconds, rather than days, without the need for establishing multiple banking relationships. And this has enabled us to secure more than 50 contracts in just nine months, with a strong pipleline of new members continuing to sign up.

“This prestigious award is a great honour for me, but it is also a testament to the hard work and commitment of the Saxo Payments team. All our nominations and award wins recognise Saxo Payments’ position as a leading innovator in the payments sector.
