Banking Circle Supports Marqeta’s Expansion of Account and Money Movement Capabilities Across Europe

Banking Circle is supporting Marqeta’s expansion of its account and money-movement offering into 30 additional European countries, enabling businesses to enrich their card programmes with embedded accounts and multi-rail payment capabilities.

Through the partnership, Marqeta clients gain access to multi-currency virtual accounts and European payment rails that support domestic and cross-border money movement, in line with licensing, and scheme requirements. This provides a single foundation for integrating card issuing with account functionality, helping businesses launch and scale across Europe with greater operational simplicity.

“Europe represents one of our most important growth markets, and bringing these tools to multinational and regional businesses enables them to build the innovative payment experiences that are crucial to their success,” said Anthony Peculic, Interim Chief Product Officer at Marqeta. “By aligning our European offering with the U.S. and the U.K., we’re providing a single platform for card issuing, account and money movement, and program management, enabling our customers to launch and scale the card programs their customers rely on.”

The collaboration builds on Marqeta’s continued momentum in the region and supports its broader European platform strategy, following its acquisition of TransactPay and expansion of e-money capabilities.

By bringing together card issuing, virtual accounts and established European payment schemes, the partnership helps businesses design financial products that fit local market needs while supporting international growth.

“Our role is to provide the regulated banking and payment infrastructure that enables partners to scale confidently across Europe,” said Mikkel Gronlykke, President Banking Circle “By combining account functionality and money movement with Marqeta’s card issuing platform, we’re supporting more seamless payment experiences for businesses operating across borders.”
