Chief Executive Officer and key Banking Circle solutions recognised for their excellence and innovation
London, 22nd September 2020 – Global-scale financial infrastructure provider Banking Circle has been shortlisted in three key categories of the Payments Awards 2020. The new bank is a finalist for the Best Cross-Border Payments Infrastructure award and Lending Initiative of the Year, whilst its innovative co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, Anders la Cour, is up for the Payments Pioneer Award. Winners are due to be announced in November at a socially distant, COVID-secure ceremony in London with half the usual number of attendees.
2020 sees the eighth annual Payments Awards, which recognise and celebrate companies that have demonstrated excellence and innovation in the payments space. Banking Circle’s ground-breaking solutions, including Banking Circle Virtual IBAN and Banking Circle Lending, are helping financial institutions provide their customers with faster, cheaper banking solutions without the need to build their own infrastructure and correspondent banking partner network.
Anders la Cour commented, “We have built our solutions from the ground up, to ensure they are not adaptations of existing offerings, which are quicker and cheaper to launch, but perform poorly in the long run. At Banking Circle, we pride ourselves on identifying pain points affecting real businesses and financial institutions, and creating valuable, accessible solutions that integrate seamlessly and increase SME financial inclusion.
“The decoupled architecture that makes up Banking Circle comprises smaller components and services that are much more easily replaced or updated without impacting other serviced. This also makes it possible to add new functionality and new connectivity far more quickly. We are not just building for today; we are building for a payments world that is ever-evolving. Our virtual IBAN and lending solutions have each won multiple awards, and we are delighted that they have been nominated once again, recognising the value of these unique solutions.”
Previously a technology and financial M&A lawyer at a tier one law firm in Copenhagen, Anders used his legal M&A experience, coupled with strong commercial acumen and entrepreneurial mind-set, to launch Banking Circle and steer it towards rapid growth and its current strong position within the financial ecosystem. Through Banking Circle, Anders has championed a whole new ecosystem in the Financial Tech sector – that of the ‘financial utility’. Banking Circle, as a financial infrastructure provider and financial utility, is not in competition with banks and Financial Tech businesses; it underpins their proposition.
