The position and why we need you

To support that and our exciting growth journey, we are looking to hire a highly experienced Payments Officer, who is able to support our team in the day-to-day monitoring and handling of the payments flow and ensure correct and timely processing. You will be reporting to the Team Lead of Payment Operations and be a part of our growing Payments function within Payment Operations working alongside the wider Operations function.

Key Responsibilities

• Following strict policies and procedures to input, verify, and release wire transfers through online banking platforms.​
• ​Meeting critical deadlines for all payment processing work, adhering to client timelines and bank payment cut-off times.
• ​Maintaining high levels of accuracy, even when under time pressure in the case of urgent payments.
• ​Ensuring the timely and accurate logging and filing of all supporting documentation in relation to payments to ensure a clear audit trail.
• ​Working as part of the wider team to streamline production and enhance policies, procedures and workflows, suggesting new ideas and providing feedback from your day-to-day work;
• ​Monitor the correct and timely processing of payments throughout the various systems
• ​Handle any incoming or outgoing payment that is for any reason not automatically processed

Skills & Qualifications

To be the right candidate you should have at least 3-4 years of experience in payment processing, where you have worked with monitoring, exception handling and investigations. You have extensive knowledge of payment systems, SWIFT etc. and you have a relevant educational background (BSc level as a minimum). Understanding of SQLs and various programming languages will be considered a plus.

As a person we expect you to be an open and positive team player with structured and detail-oriented work and strong communication skills. Flexibility in attitude and working hours is necessary due to a fast-paced working environment with a high rate of change. You must therefore also be able to juggle several tasks simultaneously and excel in meeting deadlines under pressure. As Banking Circle is an international company it’s a requirement that you are fluent in English, both verbally and in writing. If you master other relevant languages it will be an asset.

The position will be based at Banking Circle’s office in Sydney.
