To support that and our exciting growth journey, we are looking to hire a highly skilled Sanctions Screening Lead, who will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the Sanctions Screening team and act as both Team Lead and subject matter expert.

The successful candidate will lead the Sanctions Screening team in conducting the screening of real-time payments in line with international sanctions legislation whilst identifying and implementing operational enhancements. Furthermore, you will define and drive all operational aspects of Sanctions Screening, both from a strategic and BAU perspective.

You will be reporting to the Head of Sanctions and be a part of our growing Sanctions team, which is part of our Business AML function.

Key Responsibilities

  • ​Manage the team in the review and processing of Payment Sanctions Screening alerts
  • ​Update and enhance Sanctions Screening procedures on a frequent basis
  • ​Analyse existing processes to ensure regulatory compliance
  • ​Work closely with the Head of Sanctions to define and deliver on business strategy and objectives as required
  • ​Enhance collaboration across the Business AML function
  • ​Manage the team’s workload and prioritise according to the team’s availability and Banking Circle’s strategy
  • ​Train, guide and provide feedback to each team member on their day-to-day tasks and overall personal and professional goals

Skills & Qualifications

To be the right candidate for this position, we expect you to have minimum 5 years of experience from a similar role where you have had operational responsibilities, as well as experience managing a team. Experience within payments, FinTech or crypto would be a huge advantage.

You have a strong knowledge of Sanctions Legislation and regulations in EU, UK, US, and other relevant jurisdictions. You have a strong understanding of Sanctions systems and controls, and a broad understanding of Financial Crime Risk (Sanctions, AML and ABC). Furthermore, you have strong leadership, relationship building and management skills.

As a person you are results driven with a strong sense of accountability, you are proactive and bring a motivated approach. You are a true team player and able to work collaboratively with and through others. You possess strong decision-making skills, and have the ability to demonstrate sound judgement when needed. Also, you can operate with urgency and prioritise work accordingly for you and the team.

As Banking Circle is an international company it’s a requirement that you are fluent in English, both verbally and in writing. If you master other relevant languages it will be an asset.

The position will be based at Banking Circle’s Office in London.
